Statement
As a painter my objective is to capture or create visual mystery and delight. Mystery--by not giving away too much detail, provoking the desire to know more. Delight by color choice. For example: if the colors sit together and positively sing--Ta daaa! You’ve got delight. Choice of line width and paint application are additional tools that insinuate depth and sensuality. Fun, huh?
As a New Yorker, I am perpetually drawn to the skyline (What New Yorker isn’t?). I am also aware that Manhattan is an island sitting over underground rivers. These visual interests have resulted in a series of painting that I refer to as “Stilt City”.
In a nutshell: Impossible architecture set against an unbelievable sky.
